I was recently incredibly honored to be featured on the cover of Domino, one of my favorite magazines. The beautiful spread in their Spring 2016 issue gave readers a look inside my family’s Lake Tahoe home, which is a very special place to me. To commemorate this exciting occasion, the magazine invited me to host a dinner at Dimes in New York City. Coincidentally, the Lower East Side restaurant features healthy California fare. It also has a minimalist feel, complete with blond wood and midcentury-styled pieces and pops of color.
Nicolette Camille’s green and yellow floral arrangements of white poppies and other simple blooms added a brightness to the space, and the delicious menu was perfect for a Californian vegetarian like myself. It consisted of flavorful and colorful dishes focused around a seasonal selection of spring vegetables. About 30 friends of mine and of the magazine’s attended this special evening affair, and each one received a little gift from Los Angeles: Sweet Laurel’s raw, vegan caramel wrapped in a linen napkin by Non-Perishable Goods. Delicious food aside, the night was a wonderful opportunity to catch up with dear East Coast friends and celebrate this collaboration with Domino. XXJKE
