I’m always attracted to hanging pottery whether it’s for inside or out. It all started years ago when I was shopping in Palm Springs and fell in love with a vintage hanging pot with braided leather straps. I had to have it and I love the way it looks planted with succulents hanging in our tree.
I try to encourage my kids to engage their imagination and creativity playing with everyday ideas. The pretend kitchen in our playroom is the perfect example of that. We started with a stove and fridge for Tanner’s 1st birthday and, now, almost three years later, it has grown into a full-blown kitchen and grocery store, sourced from all over the place.
One of my close friends who’s an amazing stylist always says that neon is a neutral… I’m not so sure about that, but I do love it for summer, especially with nude or white. With summer on it’s way, these are some of my favorite moments for neon this season.
As a follow up to my kid’s beach guide, I wanted to fill in some of my favorites for the beach for the older generations. Now that your kids are all ready to safely and chicly explore, we have to get you outfitted!
When I was pregnant with Tanner we went on a beach vacation with some friends. A couple we traveled with had their very fair-skinned, blond-haired toddler daughter with them. Hanging on the beach, they would dress her head-to-toe in a sun suit. It covered every part of her body except her hands, feet, and head and then they threw a white sun protection hat on top of that. She literally looked like she was wearing long underwear on one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. As much as I understood why they did it, to my fashionista eye, something didn’t look right.
Floral prints are everywhere this spring and I’ve totally embraced them – in moderation! While memories of floral on floral as a kid in the early 90’s keep me just a tad reserved about using it too much, I think a splash of the print can make an outfit.
I love pottery for both indoors and out. Succulents planted in a great pot are one of my favorite accents around the house. Using pottery outdoors is a simple way to make an exterior feel more welcoming and homey. Here are some of my favorites pottery makers, just in time for spring.
From the minute Tanner could talk, orange was his favorite color. While his most prized orange possession may be his Trico Field Mickey Mouse T-shirt, I’ve found many “grown-up” uses of the shade too. Here are some of my favorite moments for orange this spring!
When I found out I was having a girl after being the only lady in our house for quite some time, I shocked myself by gravitating towards pink more than I ever thought I would. While I used to reject the color as stereotypically girly and a little cliche, I have recently rediscovered the beauty of pink!
