My French friend Ambre always knows all the cutest kids sites and stores, so when she told me that her friend Peggy North had just opened a great new kids store on Lincoln in Venice, I ran! Peggy, also a beautiful Parisian, now lives in Venice with her husband and two stunning sons, and has created a gem for all stylish mothers. Fire and Creme is a little slice of heaven located a block from General Store. In it, she carries all things chic for our little ones – from the most insane costumes for dress up, to adorable baskets that she personalizes herself, to amazing customized cow skulls and irresistable toys and décor.
I first discovered Rachel Craven’s beautiful linens at Heath Ceramics in Los Angeles, and shortly thereafter my friend Lauren Soloff put us in touch. Rachel makes the most beautiful washed linen textiles that she then paints with interesting graphics and ethnic feeling designs. I love the quality of linen that she works with – the more you wash it, the softer and better it gets. My absolute favorites are her napkins, but everything that she makes is just amazing.
I fell in love with Filson a couple of years ago when I discovered their chic canvas totes. After a little research, I stumbled upon their collection of luggage and had to have it for the whole family!
I discovered Shirley McLauchlan’s amazing embroidered designs flipping through Milk – one of my favorite kids’ magazines – when I was pregnant with Ripley. I fell in love with her work and wanted to order a custom blanket for Tanner.
Cesar in my office always likes to refer to us as magpies because we love beautiful shiny things. I wanted to introduce you to two of my favorite shiny artists for parties or around the house – Confetti System and Geronimo Balloon-Troopers.

Abigail Brown and Tamar Mogendorff are two of my favorite kid’s décor designers. They both create by hand the most precious and special pieces which truly make a kid’s room. While their aesthetics are very similar, both women have unique signatures which set their pieces apart.
