An amazing firm specializing in commercial, residential and graphic design, Commune is the genius behind a myriad of incredible spaces and projects – Farmshop and Heath Ceramics being two of my favorites. In addition to all of these endeavors: product design and collaborations, and a carefully curated selection of these items for the home available for sale on their shopsite.
I was introduced to Simon Le Blanc and her incredible boutique gifting studio by my friends Jessica de Ruiter and Beatrice Valenzuela. An artist, Parsons Paris-educated designer, personal stylist and private lifestyle concierge, Simone formed her company in 2011 and has quickly established herself as one of the most trusted resources in inspired giving.
As equal parts designer and homemaker, I always find the need for great sewing kits and notions around the house. By now you know that my go-tos for anything must be as chic as they are functional. With that in mind, here are some of my favorites:
I was first introduced to Eddie by Patrick Bradbury while in Paris over four years ago – and instantly fell in love with his jewelry as much as I did his personality. I am now fortunate to carry his beautiful pieces in my stores. Needless to say, I’m not the only one who is smitten. Since its launch in 2008, his eponymous collection has amassed a worldwide following.
One of my favorite stores in San Francisco (and now finally online!), March is the most amazing resource for items for the kitchen, pantry, and table – from furniture to fixtures and everything in between, their product offering is simply perfection
When my friend Nicole introduced me to Paperfinger, the most amazing calligraphy and hand drawn-design studio and shopsite, the romantic in me couldn’t resist. The result of owner Bryn Chernoff’s love for writing by hand, this Brooklyn-based boutique studio offers custom and ready-made products ranging from note cards & stationary to ribbon and wall decals, with each item developed using hand-drawn calligraphy, lettering and illustration. My favorite: the Love Letter Transcription, which turns your words into a work of art, and would make the perfect Valentines Day gift.
My all-time favorite incense, Pinon, from Incense of the West, emits the most amazing subtle woodsy, pine scent, making it the perfect thing to burn around the holidays.
Located on Beverly Boulevard, Garde is a stunning boutique offering a perfectly curated assortment of items for home, tabletop, and beyond. It’s unique selection and amazing taste level comes courtesy of owner and buyer Scotti Sitz, who opened the space last year. And aside from being a great resource for home, it’s the perfect place to stop for a gift
I love candles and always make sure to pack at least one when traveling – Vacations Candles are the perfect thing for just that. When I first discovered them, I immediately fell in love with the exquisite packaging (and scents) and knew that I had to have them for my stores.
One of my go-to online destinations, Terrain is one-stop shopping for a beautifully curated selection of finds for both garden and home. One of my favorite times to shop: this time of year, when they have an amazing assortment of the perfect little holiday items.
By now, you are probably quite familiar with one of my favorites – Barrett Prendergast and her boutique catering company, Valleybrink Road. For my birthday this year, she gave me the most incredible gift, and furthered my obsession. It was a custom wood gift box filled with the most amazing assortment of specialty goods, carefully chosen and artfully displayed. Needless to say, I was in love.
One of my favorite places to shop for things for around the house, Canoe is the online destination for its wonderfully chic Portland storefront. Featuring products from around the world for modern home, work, and life, it never fails in the “didn’t know I needed it, but now absolutely must have it” department. XXJKE
I have long been a fan of Beatrice Valenzuela and her amazing shoes for both adults and little ones alike – Ripley and I practically live in our many pairs, rotating favorites depending upon the season. So when I found out that she was opening her flagship store in Echo Park, I was thrilled.
I love finding items that are as chic as they are functional and affordable – these Camp Stools from Portland-based Wood & Faulk are just that. Constructed of beautiful ash hardwood and English bridal leather, they come with a carrying strap, making them just perfect to keep in the car and pull out when needed.
From helping me plant my vegetable and herb gardens, to creating a tepee made of beans and peas, Lauri Kranz of Edible Gardens LA has, over the years, become a great friend and amazing resource for all of my edible garden needs. So when she asked me to be a part of her new garden-driven line of goods, I was thrilled.
