In 2010, Vogue alumna Claiborne Swanson Frank began her first body of work as a photographer – a collection of portraits of the women in her life. This collection would in time serve as inspiration for her debut book, American Beauty, a compilation that pays tribute to the modern American woman, and a work that I’m humbled […]

Sometimes the most beautiful things can be found in the most unexpected of places. Such was the case when we had the opportunity to visit the garden of urban culinary farmer Courtney Guerra, a green oasis nestled in the center of Venice. The herbs and produce that her garden yields: harvested five days a week […]
A while back, I shared one of my favorites for Southern charm and entertaining, The Mason Cocktail Shaker from W&P Design. Needless to say, when I got my hands on their new book, chock full of recipes and tips for inspired imbibing, I was thrilled – and had to have it in store. Shake – […]

With all of the beautiful baking that’s been going on around here, I’d be remiss if I didn’t highlight some of the healthful alternatives that are out there. A great resource for this and all things healthy and delicious: the always-amazing Pamela Salzman.
If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been on a bit of a baking kick lately. This gorgeous cookbook from sisters Emily and Melissa Elsen of Brooklyn’s renowned Four & Twenty Blackbirds will likely keep that kick going. Filled with pie recipes both uncommon and delicious – think Black Currant Lemon Chiffon and Salty Honey, to name […]
One of my very favorite mommy blogs (and resources for motherhood both balanced and stylish), The Glow is an online destination unlike any other. Co-founded by editor Violet Gaynor and photographer Kelly Stuart, it has now been compiled into a breathtakingly beautiful book and extension of the site, The Glow: An Inspiring Guide to Stylish Motherhood.
Featuring the pieces of one of the most acclaimed jewelry designers of the past several decades, this book highlighting the work of Joseph A. Rosenthal, or JAR, is a stunning compilation and the perfect Valentines Day gift for any jewelry lover.
As you already know, I am obsessed with the new A.O.C., so it’s no surprise that Suzanne Goin’s latest cookbook is at the top of my list! Not only does it feature her famous small plates adapted into main courses, but it also includes wine pairings for each dish, courtesy of partner and wine director for her incredible restaurants, Caroline Styne.
A holiday gift from Richard, this amazing book exploring the work of award-winning architecture firm Backen, Gillam, & Kroeger has quickly become one of my favorites. At the center of a movement towards rustic elegance, and with a focus on simplicity and natural materials, their spaces leave me equal parts awestruck and inspired.
Such a great cookbook anytime of year, Plenty, from famed London chef and restaurateur Yotam Ottolenghi, includes 120 of some of the most delicious, innovative vegetarian recipes I have ever come across. My favorite: his Burnt Eggplant & Tahini, which also happens to be featured on the front cover
Like many others, I am a total Remodelista loyalist. So when I got my hands on the newly released 400-page companion to its website for the home design-obsessed, I was in heaven. In essence, the manual for creating classic, uncluttered spaces that never go out of style, it includes in-depth tours and takeaways from a dozen incredible homes, tons of great DIY projects, and design inspiration from big picture to the smallest of details. I could honestly spend days with this beautiful book – it’s that good.
I received this beautiful book containing inspiration and instruction in crafting exquisite flowers out of paper as a gift – and was immediately drawn in. Authored by husband and wife photography and design duo Rebecca Thuss and Patrick Farrell, it includes their time-tested techniques for creating single blooms, bouquets, party decorations, and even centerpieces out of tissue and crepe paper. I can’t wait to try making some of my own!
I bought this wonderful cookbook years ago at Rolling Greens, and since then, it has established itself as one that I will always go back to. Authored by chef and restaurateur Marc Miller, it is filled with recipes that basically take tacos to another level, and includes recipes for salsas and accompaniments, as well as instructions on how to make the perfect soft or crispy tortillas. One of our family’s faves: the Pepitas Tacos with either veggies or chicken.
