The pieces I bring with me to Lake Tahoe every summer might change from year to year but the essential components are always the same. Bottoms in easy fabrics like denim and cotton, comfortable tops that lend themselves to layering, and accessories that are stylish but also practical in a rugged environment are all I need. This year I’m loving ribbed T-shirts, Merchant Modern’s Moroccan straw bags, and The Great’s perfect denim cutoffs.
Our ribbed cashmere cardigan is also in my bag; this slightly oversized knit is the perfect layer for a weekend by the water, where it really cools off after sunset. You can wear it as a cardigan over a T-shirt, or, for a sweet boyfriend look, as a standalone sweater with just a camisole or bralette underneath.
Rope sandals by Nomadic State of Mind and our plaid bandana both add style to weekend basics without taking your outfit to an impractical place. The bandana can be worn as a neckerchief for a BBQ, used to pull your hair up during a hike, or loop around your bag at the farmer’s market and used to wrap up some fruit or flowers for the walk home.
