Every year we put together a Thanksgiving meal with friends to test out recipes and catch up with each other before the holiday actually arrives. It’s a great tradition and we keep it easy with a vegetarian menu and everyone doing their part to bring the different elements together. This year I hosted with Paige Appel and Kelly Harris of Bash Please, Suzanne Hall of Chalkboard Mag, Carly de Castro of Pressed Juicery, and chef Daphne Oz. Carly hosted the meal in her beautiful Santa Monica home and I worked with Paige and Kelly on the décor. Simone LeBlanc put together custom gift boxes for every guest, which was such a treat, and Daphne led a cooking class before the meal.
For the table settings and florals, the Bash Please team and I decided we wanted to create something lush that was worthy of a Thanksgiving feast. We used cutting boards as chargers, so guests could take them as a gift and kept the color palette really clean with stoneware plates from Farmhouse Pottery, simple glasses from Bitters Co, and wood-handle flatware from ARK Rentals. The earthy leather place cards, which we tied to the flatware, were by SANKAT, while Clementine Studio helped us print recipe cards for guests. The beautiful garland meanwhile, came courtesy of Kate Sapienza of FlowerWild, who used fruits and veggies like persimmon, watermelon radish, and artichokes to give it a bountiful feel. We added white pillar candles to complete the scene.
