Designer Sophie Buhai launched her jewelry line in 2015 with a focus on big, sculptural pieces crafted from sterling silver in Los Angeles. I am selective about jewelry—both in our stores and for personal use—but I fell for her modern designs instantly. Strong and confident but still understated, her jewelry adds something special to an outfit without making it feel fussy or complicated in the process.
This holiday season Sophie launched her first designs in gold using 18-karat gold vermeil. Paired with a white cashmere sweater, jeans, and a red lip, or a delicate silk dress and heels, these warm pieces add just the right amount of glamour and specialness to a winter outfit. It’s Sophie’s intention to make the kind of jewelry that women would pass down for generations, and I think she’s really achieving that with her line. I know I’ll be saving my gold Mapplethorpe cuff and Disc ring for Ripley! XXJKE
