If you’re a fan of cold-pressed juice or have done a cleanse before you may have tried some form drink involving cayenne pepper, lemon, and filtered water. Lemon is an immunity booster and helps to alkalize the body, while cayenne stimulates circulation and aids in lymphatic health. Together they form a powerful detoxifying tonic you can incorporate into a cleanse or simply drink as part of your regular diet—and there are plenty of modifications that enhance the nutritional value of the juice even further. One such combination is Elissa Goodman’s Daily Detox Tonic, which I drink daily.
Elissa is a Los Angeles based holistic nutritionist and cleanse expert who focuses on healing with whole natural foods. When I learned she started her own day with this modified lemon-and-cayenne drink, I knew I had to try it. In addition to lemon juice and cayenne, this chilled drink includes coconut kefir, which is loaded with beneficial bacteria, active aloe vera, which has antioxidant and antibacterial properties, fresh ginger root, a digestive aid, and raw apple cider vinegar, which supports a healthy immune system. It also happens to be delicious and leaves you feeling super clean and energized. I hope you enjoy it! XXJKE
