Yesterday I shared all of the décor details from the wellness lunch and seminar I co-hosted with nutritionist Elissa Goodman, but the healthful meal chef Amber Wilson and Elissa put together for the gathering deserves its own moment of recognition. It was a rainy day in Los Angeles and the menu was warming and filling in just […]
Since most of us are resetting our routines and setting new goals in the spirit of the New Year, I wanted to host a healthy, wellness-themed lunch with a few friends this month. The talented holistic nutritionist Elissa Goodman was my co-host for the gathering and, together with Alessandro Giannetti, an energetic healer and spiritual […]
Spirulina is one of the most powerful superfoods you can incorporate into your diet, having been used as a wellness aid for centuries across the globe. Comprised of bacteria found in warm alkaline lakes in Africa and Central and South America, spirulina is nutritionally rich, cleansing and detoxifying, and helps promote cellular health. Whether you’ve […]
We all know that eating a well-balanced diet filled with nutritious, whole foods will help you feel and look your best. One thing I’ve added to my routine for that purpose are Brazil nuts. Holistic nutritionist Elissa Goodman and San Francisco-based skincare specialist Kristina Holey both recommended them to me, and I’ve been eating two […]
As a certified holistic nutritionist, Elissa Goodman’s work takes her far beyond simple dietary prescriptions. She strives to bring the body and mind into harmony, and through her creativity and deep knowledge she succeeds. Part of that is due to an incredible understanding of ingredients and how they affect not only our physical beings but […]
They say variety is the spice of life, but lately one particular food has taken over my diet: reishi mushrooms. Mushrooms of all types are incredibly powerful—they boost our bodies’ natural immunity, and they’re a potent source of antioxidants. Cooking mushrooms used to intimidate me, but now that I’ve mastered it I’m obsessed. As a […]
As a non–coffee drinker, matcha is a big part of my daily routine. To be honest, I’m fairly obsessed with this specially grown and processed form of green tea. I’ve long been aware of its many rumored health benefits—fighting cancer and burning fat among them. But because there is always something new to learn, I turned […]
My love of rose water and everything rose-infused is not new. I’ve been spraying it on my skin for years, since it’s not only extremely hydrating but refreshing too. And I love seeking out and trying other organic beauty formulas that incorporate the natural ingredient, such as Earth Tu Face Immortelle + Rose Face Balm […]
In addition to starting each day with Elissa Goodman’s Daily Detox Tonic, another practice I’ve incorporated into my life is drinking her Healing Turmeric Latte. The holistic nutritionist recommends it as part of her cleanse and suggests drinking it each night before bed. The recipe calls for healthy, potent ingredients including ginger, turmeric, cinnamon and […]
Since meeting her, I’ve found holistic nutritionist Elissa Goodman to be a positive lifestyle influence in many ways. She has an incredible amount of knowledge when it comes to the body and how to treat it, and gives great advice. When I asked her to share her top detox tips, I knew she would do so in an […]
Among her many wonderful cleansing tips, which I’ll share in more detail tomorrow, holistic nutritionist Elissa Goodman has a few habits she absolutely swears by. One of those is her Daily Detox Tonic. The LA wellness expert begins each day with her signature blend of coconut kefir, aloe vera, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, ginger root […]
Much of this week is centered around an incredible nutritionist I’ve come to admire. Elissa Goodman is a certified holistic nutritionist based in Los Angeles whose path to her career began when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the age of 32. My personal food guru and friend Pamela Salzman first referred me, and […]
In recent months, I’ve been highlighting some of my favorite natural remedies (posts on chia seed, turmeric, and eucalyptus seen here, here and here). For the next installment, I wanted to feature a remedy perhaps as unconventional as it is powerful: activated charcoal.
As mentioned last week, recent years have found me really focusing on foods and ingredients as a way to optimize health. Another great one to add to the list: chia seed.
This past summer, after reading about its many benefits, I got really into sauerkraut – as in, couldn’t get enough. This slight obsession was only intensified when I met with Elissa Goodman, one of LA’s premier cleanse experts and Holistic Nutritionists. She reminded me how important it is to have fermented foods as part of our daily routine, both for digestion and otherwise, and even suggested including them – in some form – with every meal.
