We’ve been having a lot of rainy, gray days in Los Angeles this winter, so cozy, warming dishes are especially welcome this year. When I saw holistic chef and Rip & Tan contributor Pamela Salzman’s decadent but healthy spin on porridge pop up in my Instagram feed, I knew I had to recreate it. I […]
Yesterday I shared a few décor details from our latest In the Veggie Kitchen gathering. Holistic chef Pamela Salzman led the cooking class that preceded the meal, showing myself, Suzanne Hall from The Chalkboard Mag, and a few of our friends how to make five holiday-season dishes using whole foods and healthful ingredients. Most of […]
The holiday season is traditionally a time to cook all of your favorite recipes, but it’s also a great opportunity to try new dishes too. For our latest edition of In the Veggie Kitchen, holistic chef Pamela Salzman, Suzanne Hall from The Chalkboard Mag, and a few of our friends got together at my house […]
Yesterday we shared decor ideas for a simple and elegant July 4th BBQ, which means we’re onto the best part: the menu. Rip & Tan’s In The Veggie Kitchen series focuses on healthful, veggie-centric meals, so it was fun to come up with recipes for a summer BBQ since it’s traditionally centered on meat and heavier […]
July 4th weekend is a great time to get outdoors and spend time with family and a BBQ is the perfect way to feed guests without taking away from the relaxation. But not all BBQs need to involve hot dogs, hamburgers, and coleslaw. For our latest installment of In the Veggie Kitchen I got together with […]
I have developed a healthy obsession with mushrooms—both the incredibly powerful medicinal types like reishi, and those that I roast or sauté for flavorful vegetarian meals. Elissa Goodman is one food expert who has helped encourage this practice, with her great knowledge and healing Inner Peace Tonic. My good friend Pamela Salzman, also a culinary talent, […]
As a non–coffee drinker, matcha is a big part of my daily routine. To be honest, I’m fairly obsessed with this specially grown and processed form of green tea. I’ve long been aware of its many rumored health benefits—fighting cancer and burning fat among them. But because there is always something new to learn, I turned […]
While I often have my favorite recipes for a certain dish, it’s rare that I’ll designate one as the “perfect” variation. This recipe from Pamela Salzman (my go-to for all things healthy and delicious), however, is the exception. Featuring all-natural ingredients, a just-right balance of tart and sweet, and a crust that might just change your life, […]
While fall is technically here, the weather (and my garden) are still very much determined to take advantage of the last bits of summer – and so am I. This soup from Pamela Salzman – ever a resource for recipes delicious, healthful and flavorful – is just the way to do it. Pairing beautiful veggies with […]
When life gets busy (and energy levels low) I try to keep snacks on hand that will not only keep me satisfied, but also give me a healthy boost. Leave it to Pamela Salzman to create an easy-to-make solution that does all those things – and is insanely delicious. She made some of her bite-sized Superberry […]
One of my favorite ways to enjoy miso is in a comforting bowl of soup, and this recipe from Pamela Salzman is one of the best I have found. The beautiful thing about this soup (apart from being so delicious): it is surprisingly easy to make. XXJKE
Yesterday, I shared some of the wonderful health benefits of chia seeds. But what good is a superfood, if the actual eating of it isn’t thoroughly enjoyable? Pamela Salzman has an amazing way of making sure this is never the case, and her Almond Butter & Chia Seed Cookies are the perfect example.
Yesterday, I shared some of the amazing health benefits of Turmeric. Today: a little cup of heaven that is the perfect way to incorporate it into your diet.
This past summer, after reading about its many benefits, I got really into sauerkraut – as in, couldn’t get enough. This slight obsession was only intensified when I met with Elissa Goodman, one of LA’s premier cleanse experts and Holistic Nutritionists. She reminded me how important it is to have fermented foods as part of our daily routine, both for digestion and otherwise, and even suggested including them – in some form – with every meal.
There’s something so nice about a hearty bowl of soup on a chilly day, and this White Bean & Kale Minestrone from Pamela Salzman has become a new favorite.
With soup season officially upon us, I wanted to share some great tips and recipes for homemade stock, courtesy of my friend and resource for all things delicious and healthful, Pamela Salzman.
