As a bedroom piece or a slinky go-to on a warm summer night out, our new slips—in black and nude, short and long—are the easiest styling trick in the book. As a functional piece, the slip layered between the body and the outfit smoothes the silhouette. Worn on its own, the slip is luxurious, understated, […]
February 14th is long thought of as a day for couples, but we like to treat Valentine’s Day as an extra-special day to show the love all around—to your friends, your family, and especially yourself. This year, forgo the candy hearts and supermarket roses—our Valentine’s Day gift guide is thoughtfully curated with handcrafted home goods, […]
Whether you’re searching for an extra-special Valentine’s Day gift or simply want to indulge in some self-care as we transition from winter into spring (finally!), I think you’ll love our newest Spring 2017 Gift Box. Filled with little luxuries for a cozy weekend at home or away—plus the prettiest piece of jewelry by Stacy Nolan—it’s a […]
When it comes to lingerie I love simple, functional pieces that are also beautifully made in soft fabrics that feel special. Land of Women, a New York City-based lingerie brand that launched in 2013, specializes in bridging just that gap between utility and luxury. We recently started carrying the line in our stores and I’m […]
Yesterday, I shared the décor details for the Valentine’s Day lunch and cooking class I hosted at my home with Suzanne Hall of The Chalkboard Mag and a few other close friends. I’m so excited to share the menu with you today, not only because it is healthful and delicious, but also because the women […]
I love any opportunity to get loved ones together, cook a homemade meal, and relax—and Valentine’s Day is no exception. In fact, it’s sort of become our tradition to have a cozy night in for the holiday. This year I decided to do a lunch and cooking class ahead of Valentine’s Day with some close […]
In preparation for Valentine’s Day, I’ve started to transition the blooms around my home—and boutiques—to arrangements that feel a little more romantic. To further get into the spirit, I thought it would be fun to get some pointers from one of my frequent collaborators, Kristen Caissie of Moon Canyon. I invited a few close friends […]
Like many people, I get excited about holidays and special occasions. But my approach tends to be fairly subtle. I enjoy coming up with ways to put a refined spin on celebrations, whether it’s through florals, drinks or decor. So for Valentine’s Day, while I may incorporate some of the traditional feminine themes, I prefer […]
As the co-owners of LA’s addictive Sweet Laurel Bakery, Claire Thomas and Laurel Gallucci are experts in the art of cooking and baking in style. The longtime friends make delicious and guilt-free treats that I adore. We’re featuring several of them in our in-store Valentine’s Day Pop-Up shops, along with curated apothecary favorites and memorable jewelry. Considering their […]
The most romantic holiday of the year is upon us. While it’s traditionally a day to celebrate your significant other, I like to take it as an opportunity to honor all those I love with something thoughtful and unique that speaks to their personality. To help make gift-giving a little simpler, I’ve curated a selection of […]
This year, rather than decorating valentines with the kids as we have in years past, I thought it would be fun to change it up a bit. Instead, we partnered with my good friend Candace Nelson, the lovely lady behind Sprinkles, and Amy Blessing for a cookie baking and decorating class designed with little ones in mind.
As I shared yesterday, our Valentine’s Day get-together with The Chalkboard Mag was appropriately all about sweets, with inspiration and instruction courtesy of the always-amazing Annie Campbell. On the menu: a decadent Dark Chocolate Pots De Creme, a Strawberry & Raspberry Layered Pavlova, a Heart-Shaped Naked Layer Cake, and Honey Lavender Ice Cream.
It’s been a few months since our last In the Kitchen with The Chalkboard Mag, and with the amorous holiday fast approaching, we had the perfect excuse for another afternoon of great food and great company. On the menu for this occasion: a cooking class that was all about sweets, courtesy of the lovely Annie Campbell, and Valentine’s Day decor that felt natural, with just a touch of vamp.
As much as I like flowers, there’s something so nice about receiving gifts that will last long after the holiday or celebration has passed. For Valentine’s Day, I especially love the idea of a carefully curated box of goodies, made even more special by the care with which it is presented. With this in mind, I asked the lovely Amy Blessing (who expertly assembled the gorgeous array of boxes that we are currently offering in-store) for some of her tips and tricks. Here, her thoughts on everything from theme to materials, as well as a list of our boxes, available just in time for the holiday.
For Valentine’s Day this year – as I’ve shared before, this is one occasion that we definitely prefer to spend at home – we hosted a small get-together with family and close friends. The evening featured simple, sweet touches for a laid-back gathering that felt like the perfect way to celebrate the holiday.
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, it’s a good time to start looking for the perfect gift…or dropping some subtle hints. Here, some of my favorites for giving and receiving this holiday, both traditional and a touch unexpected.
