I’m excited that Brooklyn-based knitwear designer Lauren Manoogian’s beautifully soft, inspired accessories are now a part of our site. From her squared-off beanies (available in JK stores) to her raw-edged blankets, which can be used as a wrap over or under your favorite coat, Lauren’s pieces all feel a little bit more luxurious and thoughtful than the average winter add-on. The designer cut her teeth at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design with a focus on textiles before launching her knitwear collection in 2013.
Unsurprisingly, a focus on cloth fuels the collection; shapes are loose and colors are soft, which helps to emphasize the materials she uses. Lauren also takes care to source and produce her pieces ethically. She grows her own textile fibers in Peru and uses old fashioned looms to knit the organic yarns with integrity and above-average craftsmanship. I hope you have a chance to touch and feel one of her pieces in person!
